Hi There! I'm Aron, and I'm going to occupy your time for the next few moments, if you don't mind.
I was born on the 4th of June, 1969, in Torrance, CA, and my first concious memory is of watching a moon landing on television. In all honesty, it probably wasn't really Apollo 11, but that's what I remember it as. :-) It wasn't too much later, while camping on the South Fork of the Salmon River (an area accessible only by backpack or aircraft), that I uttered my first words: "apane. apane, dada, apane." Airplane and DaDa were followed by aileron, elevator, rudder, and MaMa...and my Mom swears it was in that order!
My lifelong fascination with aviation was joined by an interest in computers in elementry school, when a wonderful principal, Tony Ignaffo, put up half of the money to help the school buy a new Apple II. This was before floppy drives were even available. He then picked five students and told us "Here's the computer. You've got two hours, twice a week to figure it out." I've been using computers ever since.
In High School, after trying the job market twice, I founded my company, then called Radix Technologies. I've been doing computer consulting ever since, now as Radix Consulting. Among other things, I also played the violin (still do), participated in Academic Decathalon, was a National Merit Scholar, and was one of the pilot students in International Baccalaureate.
That test taking ability was what got me into college. A 1550 SAT score (before they renormalized it last year, raising all the scores by nearly 50 points. Kind of makes you wonder...) convinced Claremont McKenna College that I was good material for their Management/Engineering program, in spite of some odd fluctuations in my grades. :-)
After my freshman year, I took two years off to serve the Lord as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Wisconsin, Milwaukee Mission. After returning, I finished a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, as well as spending some time at Harvey Mudd College in the Engineering Department.
My last year at college, I sang tenor in the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, played violin and viola in the Chamber Orchestra, and worked on the Shakespeare Clinic (computer analysis of the texts to see if Shakespeare really was Shakespeare). Oh yeah, I continued running my business the whole time, too.
After completing college, I moved to North Carolina, where I lived for three years, near Research Triangle Park, between Raleigh and Durham, before moving back to Southern California. I am working on getting my pilot's license, and continue to do computer consulting to support myself.
I am now working on going back for a Doctorate in Management with a specialization in Information Systems. My 770 GMAT score apparently convinced the Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Irvine that I'm a worthwhile risk..
